Author & Industry Voice, Real Estate Trainer (Ret'd), and 47 Years of Brokerage & Training Wisdom

After 47 years in the real estate arena, the goal has changed. I’m no longer focused on the daily grind of closing deals. Instead, I’ve moved into the "Foundry"—taking the raw materials of a four-decade career and forging them into lessons for the next generation of real estate professionals.

Who I Am I’ve worn many hats, but they all fit the same head: a lifelong commitment to the ethics and education of the real estate craft.

  • Mentor and Trainer (Founder of Oregon’s First Online Education Platform): In 1998, I pioneered the first online learning platform for Oregon real estate agents. I didn't just teach the curriculum; I wrote it. Having authored numerous licensing textbooks and continuing education courses, now across multiple states, my specialty is distilling complex law into actionable logic.

  • The Decorated Veteran: My time in the industry earned me the highest honors our profession bestows: REALTOR® of the Year and the PMAR Lifetime Achievement Award. I hold the distinction of REALTOR® Emeritus, a testament to over 40 years of unwavering service.

  • The Industry Architect: I didn't just follow the forms; I chaired the committee that created them. With 10 years on the Oregon Real Estate Forms Committee (4 as Chair), I’ve spent my life defending the standards and ethics that protect our industry.

What You’ll Find Here I’ve shifted my lens from the transaction to the transformation. This blog is where I explore the "Technical Gut" and the "Human Friction" that technology can’t replace.

  1. The Unwritten Chapters: Raw, real-world stories from 47 years that you won’t find in any pre-licensing textbook.

  2. Legacy Logic: My take on emerging tech vs. timeless ethics—pitting 1970s wisdom against 2020s algorithms, and why some were able to make the transition.

  3. New Frontiers: Reflections on my career  from my home in Palm Springs, focusing on the intersection of professional success and personal growth.

This space is built on the premise that sharing what you have learned—and helping others in the process—should never stop. There is always something new to discover, one post at a time.

A Quick Note

While I enjoy discussing real estate, please remember I am no longer an actively licensed broker. For all professional real estate, legal, or tax advice, please consult the appropriate licensed professional. (But I am always happy to provide a referral!)

I look forward to connecting with you here on my blog, on LinkedIn, or over on Facebook.

I’m always happy to hear from former students and colleagues. Find me on Facebook or LinkedIn to join the conversation.

Important Note: This website provides general information, data, and opinions for your interest. It is not intended as a replacement for professional advice or your own due diligence. Always consult the appropriate professional: a lawyer for legal matters, a tax professional for tax questions, and a real estate agent for buying or selling property. I am no longer practicing, but I am happy to provide referrals. Unless otherwise noted, the opinions and views expressed are mine.
